There are a couple key ingredients to each sport whether you play on a team or compete as an individual. A few of the most important are conditioning, nutrition and rest. These are beneficial to humans as we try to excel physically and reach our potential. These key things all lend themselves to one another and can either enhance or diminish our performance depending on our use of them.
Think about each of these simple elements. If you are eating and resting well, then you’ll be able to train hard. If you are conditioning well and eating a healthy balanced diet, then you’ll certainly need your rest. Lastly, if you are resting and training hard then chances are you will desire a good nutrition, so make your food choices count. In theory this is how it should be.
None of these things alone can be highly beneficial if not backed up by the others, but are rather part of the larger picture that make us more ‘whole’ as an athlete. Maximize your efforts for progress by eating as healthy as possible, resting plenty and training well with maximized effort and efficiency. At the end, check back to see if getting on board in each of these three areas has helped you? There are a lot of sacrifices that need to be made and believe me, it will always feel like the narrow, high road if you are doing it right.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
