Modeling Love and Respect For Women

By: Steve Frommeyer, principal and Head Football Coach, Eminence High School
Mother’s Day weekend this year again reminds me how important it is to say thank you to our own mothers as well as the mother of our children (our wives). They have and will continue to make great sacrifices for all of us in athletics. One of the most valuable gifts/lessons that you can give your athletes is to allow them into your personal life to see how you treat your wife and/or mother. Modeling love and concern is an invaluable gift to give in particular to young male athletes. Many of our athletes do not see quality male/female relationships modeled at home on a daily basis. Simple gestures, comments, or short, positive, caring interactions can speak volumes to young men about how to treat their own mothers and females in general. Take the time between now and the end of the school year to say or do a small gesture of love and respect about your wife or mother to your players.
